UPT Week 32 (April 19-23)

Formation Solo Time!!!

Monday April 19, 2010 (Day 144)
Double Turn! Normal formation flight in the morning (F4302) and then...

FORMATION SOLO in the afternoon (F4201)!!!! Yep, thats right! I flew by myself (SOLO) versus another IP in another jet (who happened to also be solo). It was very cool! It was the ultimate culmination of fly abilities; solo, aerobatics, and flying in close formation for the entire sortie. It was very empowering to know that they trusted me not only to fly solo, but to go do it flying in formation!!! It was an AWESOME day!!!!!

Formation Check Ride
0800 - Showed up early to make the brief (low cloud deck, so Instrument status)
0950 - Filling out bold face/ops limit (GPS-Bravo Status)
1000 - Weather changes to Dual, Qwail Departures
1045 - In the plane, WX changes to Dual, Highway Departures

After getting suited up, and briefed with the SUP at the front step-desk, he ended his operations brief with "And its a great day to fly." One second later.....ALL THE ELECTRICITY GOES OUT!!!!!!!! ( 5 Seconds later it returned). Standing there in the dark, non-powered ops area, all I could say to myself is....."OHHH SHIT!!!!!" (......foreshadowing is a bitch)!
